My home island was blown up by a volcanic eruption leaving me and 5500 of my fellow TurtleGoats scattered and homeless throughout the metaverse, looking to be saved. Save one or more of us, and prepare for the great migration to TurtleGoat Island.
What is even a TurtleGoat you ask...well that's a whole story on its own!
About the project
I was contracted by my client, V-Detta, to create artwork for an NFT project. I chose this project because it would be highly creative and require any different skills to be used from drawing to animation. I wanted to create something less serious and more fun.
I was contracted by my client, V-Detta, to create artwork for an NFT project. I chose this project because it would be highly creative and require any different skills to be used from drawing to animation. I wanted to create something less serious and more fun.
As part of the project requirements, I would have to create a character with different assets that could be randomly generated. Then I would have to create animation videos and content for marketing material. The project was to be developed based on feedback, ideas and humor from the tribe (followers).
Developing the characters
What is a Turtle Goat, and what does one look like?
I wanted there to be features of both turtle and goat, and have the randomness of the generator determine which side the characteristics would sway. The original concept was that TG’s are born from eggs and grow into young, mature and get old, so I wanted the characteristics to reflect that.
Starting with the base, I designed skin’s, horn’s, torso’s, shell’s, hairstyle’s, beard style’s, face features and accessories. It was a great challenge coordinating the layers and ensuring all the assets worked together and in any order. All assets were created using Adobe photoshop, Graphics tablet and ‘Kyle’s Manga – Sharp Small’ Brush.
Developing marketing material
The content was to be developed based on feedback, ideas and humor from the tribe (followers). So most of the material was made as entertainment. The story reflected the direction of the road map, TG island had blown up and 5500 TG’s needs to be adopted and afterwards migrate to TG island where the developers will create a game.
Developing animations
Based on the original TG artwork, I created a puppet using Adobe Character Animator, developed a script, voice over, and animated the characters. I created backgrounds and additional assets using photoshop and put all the animations together using Adobe Aftereffects and Abobe Premier pro for editing. All content was created in good humor with the intention to entertain.
